** Resourcing the Field: Inaugural Issue
------------------------------------------------------------
July 23, 2025
Welcome to Resourcing the Field! In this newsletter, we will operate at the intersection of justice and leadership, centering on frank discussions and practical solutions. In future issues, expect stories on subjects ranging from fundraising strategies to explorations of trust-based philanthropy, ways to address systemic funding inequities and ways to build sustainability—both for organizations and the people who engage in movement and nonprofit work themselves.
Our inaugural issue features stories on:
* A Novel Intervention ([link removed]) —A new “Economy Remix” article looks at how the nation’s first labor center centering Black workers in the South is being built.
* Voices from the Movement ([link removed]) —From NPQ’s State of the Movements ([link removed]) column, an article on how to root movement building in community assets and capacities.
* An In-Depth Interview ([link removed]) —In NPQ’s latest installment of Truth to Power ([link removed]) , a worker co-op advocate talks about how to combine leadership and democracy to build sustainable organizations.
* A “How-To” Story ([link removed]) —A book excerpt from John Abrams demystifies the process of converting a business to employee ownership.
As these articles detail, resourcing the field includes helping movements resource themselves through ownership of land and businesses. So, let’s get started!
