Community Organizing Leads to Change
Meet Amanda Kunze, our volunteer of the year, who established a vital childcare resource in Moniteau County. Amanda joined the childcare task force from CMCA’s Show Me Strong Communities initiative and felt inspired to open a nonprofit childcare center.
With the crucial support of CMCA Community Organizer Jenn Millard, Amanda connected with important resources, such as a local bank for business development and Central Missouri United Way for staff training and licensing assistance.

Her dedication led to the formation of Childcare Village, Inc., which now proudly serves families in the area by offering quality and affordable childcare. CMCA continues to support the initiative, with Jenn serving on the Board.
Community organizing is funded by the federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). Like much federal funding, this crucial grant is at risk. You can join our advocacy efforts here.

An Artist’s Triumph

Earlier this month, we officially broke ground on our Stronghold Landing apartment complex. Named to honor the Jefferson City #JCStrong spirit after the 2019 tornado, this 40-unit complex will feature two- and three-bedroom apartments, a community room reinforced as a storm shelter, and a dog park. When completed, these units will be rented for $450-$900 a month, making this affordable workforce housing for Jefferson City’s growing population.
