Hi ! We hope you're staying warm and cosy right now – we are certainly in the thick of winter with this cold and rainy weather!

We have definitely had to crank the heaters here to help keep our Volunteers as warm as possible while they work away in the warehouses. 🥶

There has been lots of activity at Our Village lately and we wanted to keep you up to date. After all – without your support we simply wouldn't be able to help the thousands of babies and children that desperately need us. Thank you for being part of Our Village!

Winter Appeal Result: Thank you so much!

Our Winter Appeal was a fantastic success – raising over $400,000!

This amazing result was only achievable because of YOU. Thank you so much to everyone who gave to the appeal – we are so appreciative and thrilled with the positive response to all of our communications asking for support.

Our supporters, just like you , are the very best ambassadors for Our Village. Thank you for your donations, sharing our emails, telling family and friends about Our Village and liking and re-sharing our social media posts. It all adds up to to make a real difference in the lives of babies in desperate need.

Together, we can now continue to make a positive impact for families who are struggling this winter – and beyond. We will provide prams, cots, car seats and clothes to thousands more babies and children across Victoria this year.

You are making a real difference ...

This is Sylvia, a case worker from Western Health who frequently collects orders for babies and children from the Our Village Geelong warehouse.

Recently, Sylvia collected an order for a refugee family who were in need of clothes and warm blankets. They had arrived from Myanmar a month ago, and although their accommodation was in place, the children, aged 2, 8 and 10, were sleeping on the floor.

Realising the family's situation and wanting to provide comfort for the children, Sylvia quickly placed an order with us.

The package Sylvia picked up was full of toys and toiletries as well as linen bundles for the whole family. Importantly, it also contained warm clothing, including winter coats for all three of the children. And let's not forget the big ticket items – a pram, car seat and a high chair!

This family will feel so much joy and love with their package and Sylvia is in awe of our volunteers and service!! All of it made possible with the help of our supporters – just like you . 💚

New Friends of Our Village: Sheen Community Fund

We’re thrilled to launch our partnership with the Sheen Community Fund – founded by Sheen Panel Service – and are grateful for their generous contribution to match donations to our Winter Appeal.

Since 1989, the Sheen Community Fund has raised over $5.5 million to support children and youth across Victoria.

Their investment in Our Village in 2025 enables us to continue providing essential items to vulnerable babies and children across the state. We’re excited to see this partnership grow as we work together to support Victoria’s most vulnerable families.

A slightly different type of request? No problem for our amazing Volunteers!

We recently received a request from a social worker assisting a family with a 14 year old girl going off to her first school camp. The family didn't have the resources to provide the essential items required, such as a back pack and warm winter clothing.

Our volunteers sprang in to action and quickly put together the necessities, plus a few thoughtful extras, including a journal and gel pens, a book and some toiletries. And this is why we do what we do.

Happy campers all round at this village. 💚

This is the power of Our Village! 🤲

During June, over 2,000 babies and children were positively impacted with 6,335 essential items re-homed – worth over $800k!

Thank you to everyone who donated goods, money or their time to help us continue turning pre-loved into re-loved so every child thrives.

A special shout out to our volunteers who cleaned, checked and beautifully packed all of these items to deliver love and dignity... thank you everyone for continuing to amaze us.

Meet Jessica, a volunteer at our Geelong warehouse.

What’s your favourite part of volunteering at Our Village? My favourite part is the atmosphere and the people. It's relaxed, friendly and very supportive. There’s a sense of warmth and openness that makes it easy to feel comfortable and valued.

How has volunteering here impacted your life or your perspective on the community? Volunteering here has restored my faith and hope in people, that there are genuinely kind individuals in the world who want to help with absolutely no hidden agenda. Being here reminds me that goodness still exists, and it's helped me rebuild my confidence.

Do you have any advice for new volunteers or someone thinking about joining? Do it. It's a flexible, supportive and extremely positive environment to be in where you genuinely feel like you're giving back to the community. You will not find anything else like it and you will love it.

What's an important lesson you’ve learned over the years? One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to be kind to myself and truly listen to my body. Being diagnosed with MS and going through WorkCover taught me that healing and balance come from self-compassion and mindfulness. When we’re stuck in the past or worrying about the future, our bodies carry that stress. Along with volunteering, this journey has helped me not just reconnect with myself and others, but also build confidence.

An amazing 99 year old donor hand knitted these warm, snuggly blankets in beautiful colours – perfect to keep babies warm this winter!
