Hey John,

A special legislative session began in Texas yesterday, and on the agenda is a congressional map redraw, thanks to President Trump’s demand to deliver “five seats” for Republicans.

What’s happening in Texas is an existential threat to democracy — a brazen attempt to steal the midterm elections — and it requires all of our attention.

That’s why tomorrow, A.G. Eric Holder will be joining House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Greg Casar (TX-35), and Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair, Representative Gene Wu, for an emergency strategy call to discuss what they’re trying to do in Texas and how we’re fighting back.

Here are the details:

WHAT: Stop The Texas Takeover: A Live Event With AG Eric Holder and Special Guests
WHEN: Wednesday, July 23, at 7:00 p.m. EST
WHERE: Register on Mobilize

It’s no secret: Republicans know their policies are deeply unpopular and threaten their hold on power in the midterms. So they’ve resorted to using every tactic they’ve got to try to cheat instead.

We’re fighting back to prevent another illegitimate power grab by Trump loyalists in Texas – but this doesn’t just affect Texas. This redraw could have national implications ahead of the 2026 midterms. That’s why it’s so important that we are all aligned on our strategy, understand what’s at stake, and how to move forward knowing the potential impact this could have on our upcoming elections.

If we work together, we can fight to make sure that Texas maps are fair and its elections reflect the will of the people. But we need to be prepared so that our grassroots movement has the information and tools needed to build a strong opposition to what we’re up against.

Will you join the NDRC in collaboration with All On The Line tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. EST for this special livestream event on Zoom?

Yes, I’ll be there. Sign me up!
I can’t make it. But I’ll rush a donation to help power this critical work.
