ICE is out of control.

Last week, ICE agents aggressively arrested a parent in NW Oregon while he was dropping his child off at pre-school, breaking the window in his car and traumatizing children, teachers, and other parents. He is married to a U.S. citizen and was following the law, waiting for approval of his green card.

This is just one of many similar stories from around the country confirming that the Trump administration is profiling rather than targeting dangerous, hardcore criminals.

Donald Trump and his so-called Department of Homeland Security are instructing ICE agents to cover their faces to avoid identification while they aggressively abduct, detain, and deport residents – oftentimes in violation of the law.

Detainees have reported that they are denied access to attorneys, medical care, and communication with their families. And when Members of Congress have tried to observe how the detainees are treated, many have been turned away – in violation of federal law.

Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, and Pam Bondi are directing and permitting ICE to operate with little oversight and virtually no discretion. It's terrifying, un-American, and unacceptable.

I have introduced important legislation to curb the abusive, authoritarian tactics of ICE on our streets and in our communities.

This legislation requires clear identification of every ICE agent or law officer involved in immigration arrests, and it places limitations on when the Executive branch can order federal law enforcement, Armed Forces, or the National Guard into cities to carry out immigration policies.

I won't sit by while anyone is cruelly, unfairly, or illegally targeted by ICE.
