As I recently said on MSNBC – everyone can find a reason to hate Republicans’ “Big Ugly Bill,” and the budget it will enact. Many that the American people may not have even heard about yet:

The list goes on and on.
I voted against it. Because while it was marketed as a budget bill, it’s really a roadmap for chaos, especially when it comes to health care access for Virginians.
Here’s what it means:
* Medicaid has been slashed — risking care for over 300,000 Virginians, including seniors, children, and people with disabilities
* Six rural hospitals in Virginia could be forced to close their doors
* Doctors are already warning they’ll have to turn away patients or cut services
* As costs shift to hospitals and providers, premiums could rise for everyone, not just those on Medicaid
This is deeply personal to me. I’ve met with rural health workers in our district. I’ve spoken with families who rely on Medicaid to care for their kids. I’ve heard from doctors who are already stretched thin.
This bill doesn’t reflect the values of Virginia — and it certainly doesn’t reflect the needs of our communities. That’s why I stood up and voted no. But the fight doesn’t end there.
