Friends and Colleagues:

Over the past several weeks since the uprisings began, I have been asked by many colleagues in our field for my thoughts on what is happening in our nation and how should we support young people.  I’ve been asked to share my views on what directions are important for public policy in this moment, most certainly, and how to best support and sustain the movement.

One early Sunday morning after the realest conversation with my family, I began to write my personal reflections on the moment, the movement, and the reckoning that is currently transforming our conversations, our relationships, our communities, our nation, and our world.

I hope you will take time to read my reflections -- “We Are Pressed On Every Side, But We Are Not Crushed.” It is, above all, a letter of encouragement and strength to myself and the countless Black woman and people of color who have endured and persisted in spaces that repeatedly dehumanize us. In spite of this fact, we continue to get up every day and fight for justice – for ourselves, our families, and our communities.
