Dear John,
Fifteen years ago, facing a wave of new voter ID laws, Kathleen Unger was worried. A lawyer by trade, she knew that the bureaucratic barriers involved in getting an ID threatened to keep millions of eligible voters from the polls. Worse still, she anticipated the chaos and confusion that would arise from changing rules would stop millions more from even trying to vote.
Kathleen has never been afraid to fight for what’s right. She founded VoteRiders to help voters who needed an ID to vote and a trusted source of information as laws changed.
Today, Kathleen’s vision and tireless hard work has resulted in VoteRiders becoming the nation’s leading organization focused on eliminating ID barriers to voting, educating voters on ID requirements to vote, and providing free, direct help to any voters who need an ID.
Now, Kathleen is stepping down from her position as VoteRiders’ Board Chair to pass the torch to the next generation of Board leadership. All of us at VoteRiders are grateful for her vision, courage, and guidance through good times and bad.
Let’s send Kathleen off in style! Sign our thank you card and let her know how much you appreciate her protection of voting rights through the years.
