Team — The people of the 9th District of New York made their voices heard by turning out and voting. This was a once-in-a-generation election, and as of right now, election observers at the New York Times and Politico have us leading the field with over 60% of the vote. But this is far from over. Over 60,000 absentee ballots were requested for this election, and officials won’t begin counting them until July. We are confident that once all the votes have been counted we will be deemed the winner. But just because we are confident doesn’t mean we will take anything for granted. We are hiring a team of experts to help us ensure that every single vote is counted fairly and equally.
There is no doubt in my mind that we would not be where we are today without your support. Your hard work and dedication — whether it was phone or text banking, attending online events, or donating whatever you could — has put us in as strong a position as any to win this race. Last night's results leave me feeling more motivated than ever to continue fighting for my community in Washington. In that spirit, I am returning to our nation’s capital this week to vote on a groundbreaking police reform bill, and to lay the groundwork for an economic recovery package that includes new green infrastructure investments. If given the opportunity to return for another term, I will do everything in my power to ensure that every constituent of the 9th District feels like they have a representative they can believe in. Onward, Yvette
