We have a window of opportunity to end an evil and deadly policy.

A provision in the newly passed legislation, HR1, or more commonly known as the "One Big Beautiful Bill," stops federal funding for abortion providers like Planned Parenthood for one year. This unfortunately, is far short of the ten-year defunding that originally passed the House only to be changed in the Senate.

However, this gives us an opportunity to address the abortion drug cartel that is shipping abortion pills into pro-life states, circumventing their laws and raising the nation's abortion rate.

The Biden-Harris administration laid the groundwork for this crisis: the rise of chemical abortion through the reckless removal of minimum protections for pregnant women from the abortion drug, mifepristone.

In 2022, the Supreme Court's Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade, returning power to legislators to protect unborn life. We rejoiced. But almost immediately, the abortion industry shifted tactics. Instead of relying on clinics, they began using the mail.

The Biden-era FDA dismantled minimum safety requirements that had governed mifepristone for decades -- allowing it to be shipped without in-person exams. Worse still, Biden's DOJ ignored the Comstock Act, a federal law that clearly prohibits sending abortion drugs through the mail.

Now, we are living with the deadly fallout. Chemical abortion -- driven by mifepristone -- accounts for over 63% of all U.S. abortions. That's more than a million unborn children lost each year -- many in states that have laws protecting life.

Despite clear federal law, the DOJ has not yet reversed the Biden position on the Comstock Act, allowing abortion drugs to be trafficked illegally across state lines -- even into pro-life states. This reckless policy strips states of their right to defend unborn life, protect mothers and it violates the spirit, if not the letter of the Dobbs decision giving elected representatives the ability to set the policy regarding abortion.

With each pill shipped in the mail, the federal government is undermining the will of the people in pro-life states.

These pills are flooding into states like Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas -- states that have courageously stood for life. And yet, because the Biden administration refused to enforce the Comstock Act, over 8,000 shipments of abortion pills are being sent each month into places where abortion is supposed to be illegal.

This isn't just an outrage -- it's a crisis of justice. The federal government is not only failing to protect the vulnerable; it is actively enabling their destruction.

And that's why we must respond.

"Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked." - Psalm 82:3-4 (ESV)

Now is the time for believers to raise their voices.

• Restore and strengthen the FDA's safety standards that protect women from dangerous at-home abortions;
