Right now, Sister District is supporting eight red-to-blue candidates in Virginia: Kimberly Pope Adams, Lily Franklin, Leslie Mehta, May Nivar, Lindsey Dougherty, Jessica Anderson, Elizabeth Guzman, and Kacey Carnegie.

These eight progressive women are running powerful campaigns in Virginia’s most competitive and flippable districts this year, representing our best opportunity to expand Democratic power in the House of Delegates. 

We have just 15 weeks left to flip these MAGA-held seats, and our red-to-blue challengers need your help to win their races. 

We want to make sure your contribution today has the biggest impact. So, we’ve identified six challengers that could really use your help right now.

John, here’s what these most critical candidates are up against:

👉 Leslie Mehta is a civil rights attorney, health care advocate, and former ACLU legal director. Her opponent is an anti-choice, anti-LGBTQ state legislator. 

👉 May Nivar is a community organizer and advocate for women’s rights and racial equality. She is running to unseat the least effective legislator in the Virginia General Assembly. 

👉 Lindsey Dougherty knows firsthand how broken our health care system is — because she’s lived it. She’s running to unseat an anti-choice Republican lawmaker. 

👉 Jessica Anderson is a public school employee and mom. She’s fighting to unseat a Republican lawmaker who was photographed with a convicted January 6 rioter and Proud Boy. 

👉 Elizabeth Guzman is a social worker and the first Latina immigrant to serve in the General Assembly. She’s now running in a district historically held by Republicans. Her GOP opponent refuses to fight for Virginians against growing right-wing attacks on education, women’s rights, and our democracy. 

👉 Kacey Carnegie is a lawyer, Girl Scout troop leader, and lifelong Chesapeake resident. She is running against a retired ICE agent. 

These powerhouse women are ready to win and lead — but it won’t be easy. We know that national Republicans will pour huge sums of cash to keep these seats red. 

But if we all pitch in what we can, it’ll add up in a big way to power each of these incredible candidates to victory.
