[<[link removed] Policy Alliance>] Supreme Court & Congress Deliver Pro-Family Wins
[<[link removed]>] Dear John, The winning in Washington continues, and we’re not tired of it! We have more good news for families to share with you this week.
Pro-Family Recissio n Wins
This month Congress was at it again, building on their successes with the One Big Beautiful Bill. They used a rare budgetary opportunity that exists when the White House closely aligns with Congress on spending; it is called a rescission. Thanks to another simple-majority vote in the Senate, rescission will now allow the Trump Administration to claw back billions of your tax dollars from waste or misuse. Many of these dollars have been used to fund headline-grabbing ventures, such as $33,000 for “Being LGBTI in the Caribbean,” $18 million for gender diversity in the Mexican street-lighting industry, $3 million for Iraqi Sesame Street, $2.4 million to make international disaster aid more considerate of gender identity and $3 million for sexual reproductive health in Venezuela. But that’s not all .
There are even more pro-family wins within this package. One is defunding NPR and PBS, two organizations that routinely spread anti-American and anti-Christian propaganda, sow racial division, and promote woke values and transgender ideology. Whether it be their series titled, “What queer ducks can teach teenagers about sexuality in the animal kingdom” or having kids sing along to programs that contain the song “The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish,” this propaganda will soon lose its taxpayer funding.
FPA has been fully supportive of these common-sense efforts and has been working closely with the Office of Management and Budget, as well as House and Senate Leadership, to see this rescission package passed.
Supreme Court Allows Dept. of Education Dismantling [<[link removed]>] The Supreme Court recently ruled 6-3 that the Trump Administration's Department of Education job eliminations can move forward. A federal judge in Boston had ordered the Department to reinstate 1,400 laid off workers, but the Supreme Court’s ruling reversed that, allowing the layoffs to continue. This is an important step related to President Trump’s Executive Order directing the dismantling of the Department of Education, which you can learn more about in an episode of our [House to Home podcast <[link removed]>] .
Education Secretary Linda McMahon has been working hard to achieve President Trump’s campaign promise of returning education to the states. While only an act of Congress can truly eliminate the Department, this ruling will go a long way to reducing the Department’s size and influence, making it more and more likely that parents will soon have much more control and choice in their children’s education – and that will be a huge win for families!
We will continue to keep you up to date on how your prayers, voting and being engaged in our system of government are making a difference for your family and our nation. Thank you for trusting us to bring you the pro-family perspective on these issues.
For the family,
