Hi John,
It’s time to vote for the cover of our 2026 calendar! [[link removed]] This year, I wanted to thank you for your participation and highlight a few milestones in our restoration work across California.
While I believe that every redwood animal deserves their own spotlight in our calendar, they especially deserve protected habitats to thrive in.
To me, the 2026 calendar showcases our habitat restoration wins:
🌲
Our Redwoods Rising partners recently spotted a Humboldt marten, a species once thought extinct, near one of our restoration sites. With the marten population in Northern California and Oregon now up to 500, we expect to see more as we restore and connect their habitats.
🐟
In a section of Streelow Creek that was buried for over 60 years, our aquatics habitat monitoring team found 40 trout and a variety of amphibians in a newly restored area of the creek, just one year after the restoration.
🦉
In the Southern Sierra, our monitoring efforts have confirmed nesting pairs of spotted owls and goshawks in our Alder Creek and Freeman Creek project areas. We are restoring wildfire resilience to these nesting areas, ensuring these species have a safe place to live.
These stories are just a glimpse of the revival happening across our landscapes, and we want the calendar cover to reflect this spirit of renewal.

While we don’t have photos of all the wildlife I mentioned, the selected images symbolize the resilience of nature and the power of our collective efforts.
Voting closes on July 21, so be sure to tell us your favorite redwood star! [[link removed]]
Thank you for your support in restoring and protecting these vital ecosystems—and for helping us pick the calendar cover photo.
With gratitude,
Ben Blom, Director of Stewardship and Restoration
