Dear Health Advocates,
Congress is in session this week before breaking until after Labor Day, and it's important that we continue making our voices heard about just how harmful the impacts of HR 1 (commonly called the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act") will be.
Although HR 1 passed three weeks ago, we must ensure that those who voted for the bill own the impacts — and the unpopularity — of the legislation. We encourage you to help partners and the public make that connection and to focus on accountability. For example, you can make your voice heard by highlighting HR 1's impact on people, communities, and state budgets here [[link removed]] .
In our most recent Insights Blog [[link removed]] , we gathered stories of those who will be harmed by HR 1. From rural health care in Nebraska, to foster parent Ryan Jolly in Kansas, to a family in Pennsylvania who benefits from home- and community-based services (HCBS), this bill will have far-reaching impacts that will harm everyone , not just the tens of millions expected to lose coverage.
We have new ways to engage this week before Congress breaks for recess, including:
* STARTING TOMORROW! 60-Hour Medicaid Vigil * Caring Across Generations has organized a 60-hour vigil on the National Mall starting on July 23rd at 9 pm until July 26th at 9 am. Find more details and register to sponsor an hour here [[link removed]] .

* THIS WEEKEND! Families First Day of Action * Join MoveOn, National Domestic Workers Alliance, SEIU, and MomsRising on Saturday, July 26th , as they encourage the American people to come together in peaceful marches, rallies and events to say — our families come first, and we will protect each other. In all 50 states and Washington DC, Families First rallies will demand care over the cruel cuts and attacks on families that we’re seeing from Congress and the White House. The nationwide mobilizations organized by a coalition of unions, advocacy groups, faith leaders, and families committed to protecting democracy, dignity, and care. All events are grounded in nonviolence, community safety, and strategic protest. Find more details here [[link removed]] .

* Defending Medicaid Landing Page * Even though the bill is law, Families USA will leave up its Defending Medicaid landing page [[link removed]] . You can find district fact sheets, state-specific resources, and other resources we developed for the fight to protect Medicaid.
