Last week, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that I’m a member of grilled Mike Waltz during his confirmation hearing to be Ambassador to the United Nations. He’s the former national security advisor who created the unclassified group chat where Pete Hegseth posted classified military operation plans.

While Mike Waltz is looking to fail up with a promotion to the United Nations, Pete Hegseth still has not faced any consequences. By sharing classified information over an unsecured channel with someone not cleared to receive it, Pete Hegseth could’ve gotten American troops killed.

He put American servicemembers in danger. He can’t guarantee that his communications weren’t intercepted by Russia or China. He ran military operations out of an unclassified group chat! And he lied about it to the media and is still trying to avoid accountability.

Pete Hegseth should never have been tapped to be Secretary of Defense in the first place. Every single day he is running the Pentagon, he is making our country less safe.

The job of Secretary of Defense is too important to leave to someone as unfit and incompetent as Pete Hegseth. Add your name if you agree he must be fired immediately.

During his confirmation hearing, I said that Pete Hegseth was the most unqualified nominee to be Secretary of Defense in the history of the United States. In just his first several months on the job, he’s proven me right with his incompetence.

He’s a Fox News host whose main qualification for the job was a willingness to put Trump’s ego ahead of the wellbeing of our servicemembers and our national security.

We’re now seeing the consequences of elevating someone like this to a role as important as Secretary of Defense.
