Thanks to everyone who joined our town hall last night to discuss the Texas Legislature’s special session, which began yesterday. We were lucky to hear from the Vice Chair of the House Redistricting Committee, Houston-area Democratic Rep. Jon Rosenthal and former State Senator and current Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis.
We discussed three things every Texan can do right now to make sure Governor Abbott and Republican representatives hear our message: Stop the Trump Takeover.
1. Call your Republican Texas Reps and tell them you don’t want them to surrender to Trump and re-redistrict Texas. 2. Testify before the Texas House Redistricting Committee, which announced three public hearings yesterday. We learned last night that we probably won’t even see the proposed maps before these hearings, making them little more than a performance designed to check a box—not actually listen to Texans. But we’re not going to let them get away with that. This is our chance to show up, speak out, and demand fair maps.

3. Rally in protest. Events are taking place all over the state. In Harris County, a huge coalition will gather on Saturday before the legislative hearing. Show Texas Republicans that we don’t want them surrendering to Donald Trump and national Republicans.
