Charlottesville, Virginia, is our home. My family and I moved here 16 years ago following the passing of our son Humayun, who gave his life defending our country in the Iraq war. That is why, when white supremacists and neo-Nazis flooded the streets of our town in 2017 to spread hate against peaceful people of Charlottesville and those who don't look or worship like them, I felt a deep pain for our country.

In the weeks that followed, Joe Biden spoke out against the hateful words of those who had marched through our streets -- and he condemned the words of Donald Trump, who claimed there were "fine people" on both sides. That is how I know Joe Biden understands what America is about. He knows that patriotism and love of country don't depend on the color of one's skin. Friends, I am proud to support him in his fight to become our next president.
