Gun violence remains as the leading cause of death for children in the U.S.

States with loose gun control laws bear the heaviest burden.

  • The new study, published in JAMA Pediatrics, compared gun deaths in U.S. states before and after the landmark 2010 Supreme Court decision limiting states’ ability to regulate gun access, and many states loosened firearm ownership requirements after the ruling.
