1) Good Riddance To Bad Rubbish
Maybe Reagan was wrong.
He once famously declared:
"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. So governments' programs, once launched, never disappear. A government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth."
But last week's Trump rescission package killed $9 billion of oinkers in the budget. Congress disconnected the life-support system for nearly two dozen programs whose mission in life - if there ever was one - long ago ended.
Here's a list of the cancellations and the money saved. Let's hope this is the start of a cultural shift in Washington with Congress ending federal programs rather than starting them.
Reagan must be smiling!

2) Red State Blue State Jobs Update
Even though the American economy is humming again, several Democrat-run states and DC have amazingly been losing jobs of late, while states like Idaho, Utah, South Carolina, Florida, and Texas keep rocketing upward.
Between the biggest losers and winners, we had to extend the graph in both directions to fit the latest data, covering the month of June.
The five states that have seen job growth of at least 10% from pre-pandemic levels are all fire-engine red Republican, while all the states that are net job losers are blue.
The no-income-tax states continue to be disproportionately represented here, accounting for 5 of the top 15 states.

3) We Have to Do Something About Runaway Health Costs
Yes, Americans are aging and are using more health care, but we can’t have a labor force of nursing home attendants and home health nurses.
This troubling chart shows that the trend in hiring over the past several decades is heavily slanted toward the ever-increasingly, cost-inefficient medical sector, while fewer Americans now actually make things. We're spending more than ever, and life expectancy has been flat of late.

4) Mayor Pete Spent an Astonishing $80 Billion on DEI Grants
No wonder nothing got built and so few potholes got fixed while Pete was running the Transportation Department under Biden. All the money went to diversity and equity programs while Pete was on the job.
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg failed to replace outdated air traffic control systems while in office -- with his agency instead shelling out tens of billions of dollars on a DEI agenda, according to federal spending records and airline industry insiders.
In one meeting, Buttigieg -- who is said to be eyeing a 2028 presidential run -- told industry executives that air traffic control upgrades would just allow them to fly more planes, "and so why would that be in his interest?" sources said.
What his department was really interested in was handing out hundreds of diversity, equity and inclusion grants totaling more than $80 billion over four years -- at least half of the DOT's entire budget for a typical fiscal year, records show.
Good news. Trump is killing the DEI programs (see item 1).

5) Britain's Labour Party Wants 16-Year-Olds to Vote
Britain's ruling Labour Party is down and out, so they've found a new strategy to win the vote: let 16 and 17-year-olds cast a ballot.
Their excuse is that they want to rig the system to "get democracy back on track." After all, who isn't a socialist if they've never had a job?
But it turns out the shenanigans may not pay off
Many young people are attracted to the Green Party, which is to the left of Labour. Also, Nigel Farage, who runs the Reform Party, has more than a million TikTok followers - most of them young.
Don’t be surprised if progressives try this in the USA.
