Shawn is one of the most sought-after pro-life speakers, addressing audiences coast-to-coast and internationally. He was portrayed in the film Unplanned. Dr. Haywood Robinson

Former abortion doctor, author, 40DFL director of medical affairs & education

In 1986, husband-and-wife abortionists Drs. Haywood Robinson and Noreen Johnson encountered Jesus Christ and quit performing abortions.

They continued practicing medicine together until Dr. Robinson retired from their practice in 2019 to serve as the director of medical affairs & education for 40 Days for Life. The book they coauthored, The Scalpel and the Soul: Our Radical Transformation as Husband and Wife Abortion Doctors was released in June 2023.

Ramona Treviño

Former Planned Parenthood manager, author, current 40DFL director of outreach

Ramona Treviño worked as the manager of a Planned Parenthood abortion referral facility in Sherman, Texas, until 2011 when God used a 40 Days for Life campaign to move her to leave her job.

Ramona's resignation from Planned Parenthood resulted in her former center going out of business. Ramona has shared her conversion throughout the U.S. and internationally through speaking engagements as well as print, broadcast, and online media. She is the author of Redeemed by Grace: A Catholic Woman's Journey to Planned Parenthood and Back.

Steve Karlen

40DFL campaign director, author

Steve Karlen helped lead a statewide campaign that prevented the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics from opening a late-term abortion facility near the campus of his alma mater.

Steve now trains local 40 Days for Life leaders, co-hosts The 40 Days for Life Podcast, and edits Day 41 magazine. He has spoken in all 50 states, wrote the book This Is When We Begin to Fight, and co-authored What to Say When and What to Say When 2.

Robert Colquhoun

40DFL international campaign director

Robert Colquhoun is based in London, where he led the first 40 Days for Life campaign in England. After several campaigns, the abortion facility stopped doing abortions and eventually closed its doors.

Robert has helped the 40 Days for Life mission spread across the United Kingdom. He now assists local leaders coordinating 40 Days for Life efforts in nations as widespread as Australia, Croatia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Lourdes Varela

40DFL Ibero-American campaign director

Lourdes is based in Mexico City, where she led eight 40 Days for Life campaigns. After working for almost ten years in the pharmaceutical industry, she felt called to dedicate herself to defending life. 

As one of the first campaign leaders in Latin America, Lourdes has helped spread the mission all over Central and South America.

Matt Britton

General counsel, 40DFL

Matt has had an expansive legal career, including four terms as an elected prosecutor; a county attorney; counsel to many not-for-profits and U.S. companies operating around the world; a major law firm litigator; and general counsel.

Matt now serves as the general counsel for 40 Days for Life, where he helped found the 40 Days for Life Institute of Law & Justice. He has written and spoken countless times on a wide range of legal and pro-life issues in locations across the United States as well as England, Japan, Colombia, Mexico, Korea, Singapore, Brazil, China, and locations across the European Union.
