John,

When the deadly floods hit Kerr County, Texas, on the 4th of July, there was no warning coordination meteorologist on duty.

That’s because the position had been eliminated and left empty after 600 layoffs at the National Weather Service.

Now, as hurricane season begins, NOAA is down 1,000 staffers , and FEMA has lost 20% of its workforce .

These agencies issue warnings, coordinate emergency response, and help families rebuild. They’re essential to recovery after major weather events and natural disasters. When they’re understaffed, people suffer, communities are left vulnerable, and disasters become even deadlier.

This isn’t a budget line item. It’s a life-or-death issue, and thousands of communities are now at an increased risk.

That’s why we’re calling on Congress to reverse these dangerous staffing cuts and restore the critical agencies Americans count on.

Will you sign on today to stand with us and demand Congress act now to protect our communities? [[link removed]]

We need action immediately, because we can’t afford to wait until the next storm hits or the next flood rises. Fully staffing FEMA, NOAA, and the National Weather Service is essential.

Thanks for taking action with us,
