[2]National Nurses United

The landscape for the movement to win Medicare for All has dramatically
shifted over the past few months.

Before I talk more about why, I want to let you know up front that I’m
asking you to join a really important call — [ [link removed] ]our next national Medicare
for All Strategy Call on Tuesday, July 14th, at 5 PT/8 ET. We’ll talk
about this new political moment, how we build momentum for Medicare for
All, and how you can be involved.

So let’s talk about what’s changed since March. An estimated 27 million
people have now lost their health insurance due to the pandemic, in
addition to 29 million who were already uninsured. That’s nearly 60
million people in the US without health insurance, during a global
pandemic.

COVID-19 has laid bare that our health care system is in dire need of
reform — and Medicare for All could help us now more than ever.

We have an unprecedented opportunity to make the case for guaranteed
health care in the US, and bring more people directly impacted by this
crisis into our movement.

COVID-19 isn’t the only thing we’re fighting against. Historic mass
uprisings against police brutality have re-ignited a national conversation
on systemic racism that lives in every facet of our society. Across the
board, Black and Brown Americans face discrimination and injustice — this
includes our country’s broken health care system.

People of color in the US face disproportionate lack of health care, and
the racial disparities of COVID-19 have made this more evident than ever
before.

One of the best ways to fix the injustices at our system’s core starts
with making sure that everyone, no matter what, is guaranteed health care
free at the point of service. But to do that we have to get organized
now.

We’re counting on you to be part of this historic moment with us, and
joining the next national call is a great way to start.

[ [link removed] ]RSVP now for our Medicare for All Summer Strategy Call on Tuesday, July
14th, at 5 PT/8 ET to hear about how you can plug in to this next phase
and help build a unified movement for Medicare for All.

In solidarity,
