Team, we have an important ask for you today.
Donald Trump, Secretary of Defense Mike Esper and other far-right political allies of this administration are once again using our military as political pawns at the expense of the well-being of our troops.
The independent newspaper Stars and Stripes has afforded many veterans and servicemembers of the Armed Forces a connection to home while stationed abroad since World War II. Now Trump wants to defund this critical news service -- all because he sees the transparency and civic responsibility the paper provides as a threat.
It's time for us to do what we do best. Join us in calling for Congress to fully fund the independent newspaper Stars and Stripes that so many of our deployed servicemembers rely on every day.

Secretary Esper claims that defunding Stars and Stripes would be in the best financial interest of the country. But exactly how much of the department's budget does Stars and Stripes funding represent?
About 0.0043%.
No matter how you look at it, this is simply just another attack on the free press from a feckless President and a failed Commander-in-chief, once again at the detriment to our service members.
He never thinks about the wellbeing of those who serve unless there's a photo op in it, and this time is no different.
Enough. Congress must fully fund the independent newspaper Stars and Stripes, which so many of our Armed Forces depend on for critical information and for a connection to home while they are deployed. Add your name if you're with us.
