john, Last week, Kim stood shoulder to shoulder with local food bank workers and hunger relief advocates at Food Lifeline in Washington to speak out against the GOP's cruel and heartless “Big, Ugly Bill." This harmful bill has already slashed funding for SNAP—the vital program that helps families put food on the table. In Washington State alone, 1 in 9 residents (888,300 people) rely on these benefits to afford groceries. Right here in Washington's 8th, these cuts mean more kids will be going to bed hungry, more families will turn to overstretched food banks, and fewer of our neighbors will be able to meet their most basic needs. And all of this—every painful cut—was made to make room for even more tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. As a pediatrician, a mom, and as your Congresswoman, Kim was proud to stand up and vote NO on this devastating bill. She has seen firsthand how harmful it is when self-serving politicians put their own interests and those of their wealthy allies ahead of America’s children, families, and seniors. But Kim knows the fight doesn’t stop here. She’s doubling down on her commitment to protect SNAP, defend funding for food banks, and restore programs that bring fresh, local produce from Washington farms to our communities. Kim knows hunger is a policy choice, and she refuses to accept it. But when Republicans push cruel cuts like this, we need to show them that people are paying attention and that we won’t stand by while our children suffer. Let's be very clear: No child should go to school hungry, no parent should have to skip meals so their kids can eat, and no family should be abandoned by the government when they need help the most. Will you chip in $5, or whatever you can, to help Kim flip the House in 2026? We need to replace the GOP members who voted for these harmful cuts and protect food access for every family in Washington and across the country. Thank you, Schrier HQ
