John,
Palantir’s CEO, Alexander Karp, has already built a billion-dollar fortune. His company profits from the surveillance state—fueling ICE raids, offering predictive policing, and providing data systems that violate basic civil liberties.
Now our new report reveals that Karp could have pocketed $86 million in personal tax savings, from just one provision of the 2017 Trump-GOP tax law.[1] That first Trump tax bill slashed rates on the ultra-wealthy, running up trillions of dollars of debt that threaten critical services for everyone else. And Republicans just extended that same tax giveaway, ensuring that billionaires like Karp keep cashing in while the rest of us foot the bill.
When Donald Trump signed his latest tax scam into law on July 4th, one provision in the law lowered the top income tax rate in coming years from 39.6% to 37%. Though only a 2.6 percentage-point reduction, at the income levels enjoyed by people like Karp—whose total compensation over the years 2019-24 was at least $3.3 billion—those few points can make a big difference.
This is what GOP economic policy is designed to do. Enrich billionaire cronies. Reward corporations that serve authoritarian interests. And quietly bury the cost under slogans about “growth” and “efficiency.”
We’re exposing how billionaire CEOs like Karp are cashing in on the Trump tax scam while the rest of us pay the price. Please make a donation right now to help us build the power we need to fight back.
The numbers don’t lie. Karp’s income reached $1.5 billion in 2024, and under the GOP rate cut alone, he could have saved nearly $40 million last year.
And he’s not the only one. These tax windfalls are quietly building a new billionaire aristocracy, people who bankroll authoritarian politicians, lobby against worker protections, and build systems that surveil and punish the vulnerable.
Palantir’s co-founder Peter Thiel once said he no longer believes “freedom and democracy are compatible.” His political allies include Vice President J.D. Vance. Karp, Thiel, and their peers are using their wealth and influence to reshape the country, and the GOP is holding the door open.
We can’t let them get away with it. We need bold action to unrig the tax code, and it starts by demanding a system where billionaires like Karp pay their fair share.
We can stop them from profiting off mass surveillance and force them to pay their fair share, but we need you in the fight. Please make a donation right now to help us expose these billionaire tax scams and shut them down.
