John, In two days, we'll gather in D.C. for a 60-hour vigil with caregivers, aging adults, disabled people, families, and advocates from across the nation in honor of the 60th birthday of Medicaid and to hold Congress accountable for the historic cuts that passed earlier this month, not the gift this program and the 80 million people it supports deserves.
Although we’re grieving the millions of families who will be hurt as a result of this disastrous budget bill, we’re not giving up on our fight. Now is the time to come together and call for our electeds to put families first, to invest in, and not gut the programs we rely on.
That’s why we’re joining Families First, a nationwide day of action on Saturday, July 26. We’ll be joining families in D.C. and all 50 states to defend our families, show the intergenerational call for care and oppose the cruel policies coming from the Trump administration and Congress. We hope you’ll join us.

The decision by Congress and the administration to strip care from millions isn’t politics as usual. It’s a direct assault on our families.
This legislation will tear apart immigrant families, push aging and disabled people out of the care they need, and leave millions of families with impossible choices just to survive. This is not freedom. It’s cruelty disguised as policy. The economic impact to families and communities everywhere is only beginning to be felt.
Our families should come first. Not billionaires. Not ICE. Not corporations.
Across the country, we’re showing up in community, because no one should feel alone in this moment. We’re raising our voices for care, safety, dignity, and a future where all families can thrive – no matter your zip code, background, or immigration status.
Our families deserve better. And we’re not staying silent.
We hope to see you there,
Nicole Jorwic, Chief Program Officer
