Across Connecticut, Democrats are gathering for our Statewide Listening Tour to talk about what comes next for our party.
At recent stops, we heard a strong call to sharpen and strengthen our messaging. You want to see Democrats speaking clearly about our values, and you want to hear that message from trusted voices like labor, local advocates, and community leaders. People shouldn’t have to search for what we stand for.
We also heard that intentional coordination matters. It’s not enough for campaigns and committees to be aligned; we need communication across movements. Labor, young organizers, elected officials, and activists all need to be working together with clear alignment, not operating in silos.
You also emphasized the importance of lifting up new leaders and bringing in fresh ideas, especially from communities that so often feel overlooked. The future of our party depends on it.
Folks are also looking for more hands-on ways to make a difference, not just through a donation button. You want to canvass, attend events, serve on commissions, and stay engaged in civic life. We’re committed to making those pathways clear and accessible.
These conversations are already shaping how we organize and where we go from here. I’ll be in Torrington next Tuesday and truly hope you’ll be there to continue the conversation with me.
Sincerely,
Roberto Alves
