We can’t keep letting gun dealers put our lives on the line for a sale, friend.

Too often, negligent and unlawful conduct at a gun shop leads to a life of pain for innocent victims, and if we don’t hold gun dealers accountable for failing to follow the law, lives will always be on the line. That’s why Brady is fighting for our client, Laura Carlson, after a blatant straw purchase changed her life.

Friend, this shooting was preventable: Our complaint alleges that Range USA had followed the law and acted responsibly, it wouldn’t have happened. The 18-year-old shooter purchased the handgun with his 21-year-old girlfriend acting as a straw purchaser. The surveillance footage clearly shows that store employees stood only feet from the couple as he pointed to the weapon, handed her cash, and helped her fill out the form to buy the gun under her name.

Laws exist to keep guns out of the hands of those who wish to do harm to our communities and we cannot accept dealers undermining laws that keep us safe. Americans should be able to trust that gun dealers will be responsible agents when selling deadly weapons.
