First, it was Wisconsin. Then, it was Georgia. And yesterday, it was Kentucky.
John: Voters in states across the country are encountering obstacles when casting their ballots in primary elections, and these issues are disproportionately impacting Black communities.
We need to expand voting by mail to protect voting rights before the general election in November. If you agree, add your name today.
In Wisconsin and Georgia, voters waited in lines for hours at a time and encountered complications with voting machines and ballots. And in Kentucky, the number of polling places was cut from 3,700 to only 200. The state’s largest county -- home to hundreds of thousands of Kentuckians and the largest Black population in the state -- had only one polling place.
John: These are tell-tale signs of voter suppression.
And President Trump is adding fuel to the fire by spreading blatant misinformation about voting by mail. It makes you wonder: Why is Trump scared of more Americans having an easier and safer method to vote?
No elected official should discourage more people from being able to vote because voting is the heart and soul of our democracy.
But more Americans are at risk of encountering the same issues experienced in Wisconsin, Georgia, and Kentucky this November if we don’t do something about it now. Add your name and tell Congress to take action to expand voting by mail and protect voting rights.
Thank you,
TC
