Dear PFAW Member,
It's been over a month since the House of Representatives passed the
HEROES Act coronavirus support package. In the last month, American
families, small business owners, local communities, and state leaders have
been waiting for Congress to lead in this moment of crisis. It's past time
for the Senate to act.
The HEROES Act contains $3.6 billion in drastically needed funding for
election security and ensuring ballot access for voters in these
unprecedented times, as well as vital relief for state and local
governments, that have been hit very hard by the pandemic, and job
protections for hundreds of thousands of workers. But Mitch McConnell
continues to block the bill!

Over the past few months, this once-in-a-lifetime public health and
economic crisis has pulled back the curtain to expose and compound the
deep systemic inequities Americans experience. The pandemic is not going
anywhere without a vaccine that could be years in the making. We need
relief and we need solutions from Congress now.
The HEROES Act provides funding, not only to keep families afloat in this
economic and public health crisis, but also in support of localities and
states which are carrying much of the responsibility for supporting our
communities through this time. Especially in advance of the 2020 election,
we need to ensure that our communities have the resources they need to
advance free and fair elections.
