John,

Thirteen Saudi women activists have been imprisoned for the past year, simply
for demanding equality. Many of these women led the campaign for the lifting of
the driving ban on women and for the end of the male guardianship system for
years.

The ban was lifted in June 2018, but the women who made it happen still haven’t
had the opportunity to legally sit behind the wheel. Instead they are sitting
behind bars, locked up in prison cells for their peaceful human rights activism.
Ten of them were sexually abused and otherwise subjected to torture and other
forms of ill-treatment during the first three months of their detention.

Don’t let Loujain al-Hathloul, Nassima al-Sada, Samar Badawi, and many others
sit behind bars any longer. John, ask your Senator
to demand their release now.

There has been an ongoing crackdown on human rights defenders in Saudi Arabia
and continued stifling of freedom of expression, association and assembly. Harsh
prison sentences have been handed down against human rights defenders, as well
as social media and travel bans.

We need your help to ensure that the Saudi Arabian government immediately and
unconditionally releases these women. Pressure from the U.S. Senate has helped before, so help us now: tell your
Senator to take action to help free Saudi women’s rights activists now!

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has imprisoned a group of Saudi women activists
simply for demanding equality and defending human rights in their country. It’s
Amnesty International’s job to elevate the work of these women and advocate for
their release.

Join me in advocating for thirteen women human rights defenders who have been
imprisoned for over a year.

No one should be jailed for their peaceful human rights activism.
