Celebrating Tradition at the Talbot County Fair
It was a privilege to join local leaders, fair organizers, and our community for the opening of the Talbot County Fair—an event that proudly celebrates the Eastern Shore’s deep agricultural heritage.
From livestock shows and 4-H exhibits to homegrown produce and farm equipment displays, the Fair highlights the hardworking families and traditions that keep our rural communities strong. It’s always a joy to see the next generation learning about agriculture and taking pride in the land we call home.

Meeting with NIH Director
This past week, I met with NIH Director, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya to discuss how we can improve the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) through smarter, science-driven policy. We need more National Institutes of Health (NIH)-backed research focused on making SNAP healthier, more efficient, and better tailored to the needs of Maryland families. Investing in evidence-based solutions is key to strengthening food security and public health across our state.
Fighting for Medical Research that Respects Science and Life
This week, I joined my colleagues in the GOP Doctors Caucus for an important discussion with NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya.
As both a physician and a legislator, I understand how critical it is that NIH-funded research upholds the highest standards of scientific integrity. We emphasized the need for transparency, rigorous peer review, and a collaborative approach—because when taxpayer dollars are at stake, Americans deserve research that leads to real medical breakthroughs, not political agendas. I’ll keep fighting to ensure our nation’s research priorities reflect both innovation and respect for human life.
Celebrating Agriculture in the Heart of D.C.
Washington is just a short drive from Maryland’s First Congressional District, and this summer, local farmers and producers will be proudly featured at the Great American Farmers Market on the National Mall. From August 3 to 8, between 4:00 and 8:00 PM each day, visitors can enjoy a week-long celebration of American agriculture. The event will include fresh food vendors, hands-on exhibits, live demonstrations, and family-friendly entertainment—all honoring the hardworking men and women who help feed our nation.
Location: National Mall, across from the USDA Whitten Building (1400 Jefferson Dr. SW) Dates: August 3–8, 2025 Time: 4:00–8:00 PM daily
If you're nearby or making a trip from the Shore, we hope you'll stop by the market. And while you're in town, stop by our office and say hello—we’d love to see you!
