On June 1, our CEO, Barry Mattson and the Rise Against Hunger Leadership Team, released this statement in response to the issues related to injustice and racism: Rise Against Hunger strives to advance equality in the communities we serve worldwide, and within our organization. When we take action to remove inequalities that people face, we advance social justice. We should not tolerate racism in any form, but we can't stop there, and we can't wait to do so only in times like the past week. We all have a role to play in remaining civically engaged, speaking up against racism and harnessing our energy to make a positive impact. Rise Against Hunger stands with Black Americans and all people of color, including our employees, volunteers, and people we hope to serve across the globe. The heart of our mission is and always has been about fighting social inequality and injustice, because we believe that all human beings possess equal dignity and claim to life. We remain committed to action and promoting love for all people who experience hardship on a global scale. |

Raleigh-Based Hunger Champions Distribute Rice to People in Need |
Matthew Kane, a Hunger Champion based in Raleigh, North Carolina, was seeking ways to help during this unprecedented time. When Matthew heard there was an opportunity to support Rise Against Hunger’s mission and help people in need in his community, he felt called to participate! He knew his friends and community members were also seeking ways to help while staying home — and that’s when he had the idea to not only sponsor a pallet consisting of 50-pound rice bags, but also to safely repackage that rice into smaller bags for food banks to distribute to local families in need. Learn more about Matthew’s efforts to serve others. |

Join Us In Sending COVID-19 Relief Aid to Haiti and Niger |
In April, we shipped emergency meals and medical aid to partners in Sierra Leone and Liberia through our partnership with MAP International and the help of Hunger Champions around the world. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect communities in need, we are prepared to send shipments of emergency supplies to hospitals and schools in Haiti and Niger. Every day, COVID-19 poses increasingly severe threats to communities we serve around the world. Please give now to make an impact by putting critical support en route to those in need in the midst of a global health crisis. |

Annabelle Celebrates Her 10th Birthday With a Donation Toward Ending Hunger |
Rise Against Hunger is an organization sustained by the passion and dedication of our donors and volunteers. At only ten years old, Annabelle’s enthusiastic presence at our meal packaging events over the years has inspired us all. This year, Annabelle called her family and friends to donate to Rise Against Hunger in lieu of gifts for her birthday. We are so honored to count Annabelle as one of Hunger Champions! Read more about Annabelle’s journey to help us end hunger. |
