We need your voice to prevent this potential attack on Initiative 82
Dear Friend,
Last week, Councilmember McDuffie shared his proposal with other Councilmembers to permanently freeze the tipped minimum wage at $10 an hour. While he ultimately decided not to bring it to a vote, we need the Council to hear us loud and clear—no pause, no repeal.
Tell the Council: freezing workers' wages is not a compromise; it is an attack on Initiative 82 that breaks the promise that voters overwhelmingly made to thousands of tipped workers.
DC voters already made the decision in 2022 when we overwhelmingly said YES to fair wages for all workers. We said YES to dignity and respect for tipped workers. We said YES to steady wage increases on a reasonable timeline. Now the Council needs to stand with voters and workers to get it done.
Thank you for standing up and taking action. We continue to stand up to corporate interests and are reminded of one simple truth: when we fight, we win!
