Email from Zionist Organization of America   ZIONIST ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA NEWS RELEASE Israel’s Defense and Humanitarian Aid Preventing a Greater Massacre and Even Genocide of the Druze Syrians by the Syrian Regime Deserves Praise – Not Condemnation J Street, Israel Policy Forum, the Arab League UN Officials, UAE, China, Russia, Iran, Others Condemned Israel Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein released the following statement: It seems that no matter what Israel does, no matter how humane, no matter how warranted to keep her own citizens and other nations’ citizens safe, the media and left-wing groups and other Jew-hating Israel-haters criticize Israel’s humanitarian and defensive efforts now in trying to stop the 10/7-like slaughter of innocent Druze by Syria’s terrorist leader and regime. The latest example is Israel’s air strikes and efforts to stop the slaughter of Syrian Druze by Syrian regime forces, in the Al-Suwaidaa area and Damascus. In recent days, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (“SOHR” – a group that frequently expresses hostility towards Israel) reported that Syrian government forces (“members of the [Syrian] ministries of defense [sic] and interior”) and their allies carried out extrajudicial “field executions” in which they murdered least 86 civilians, mostly Druze Syrians, and hundreds of deaths in related clashes. Houses and shops belonging to people from the Druze community were burned down. Israel’s air strikes and assistance (which caused Syrian government convoys to retreat from Al-Suwaidaa) prevented what could have been a far more massive slaughter. Israel is potentially saving thousands of innocent Syrian Druze lives, a literal potential genocide of the Syrian Druze. It also kept the Syrian regime forces away from Israel’s border, thereby protecting countless Israeli civilians, including thousands of Israeli Druze. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu eloquently described Israel’s effective action and policy, saying: “We have set forth a clear policy: demilitarization of the region to south of Damascus, from the Golan Heights and to the Druze Mountain area. That's rule number one. Rule number two is protecting the brothers of our brothers, the Druze at the Druze Mountain. Both those rules were broken by the regime in Damascus. The regime sent troops south of Damascus, into the region that has to be demilitarized, and began slaughtering the Druze. That we could not accept in any way, and I therefore directed the IDF to take action — and take powerful action. The Air Force attacked both the gangs of murderers and the armored vehicles. I added another target, to also attack the Ministry of Defense in Damascus. “As a result of that powerful action, a ceasefire came into force, and the Syrian forces retreated back to Damascus. That is important. This is a ceasefire that was reached through strength. Not by making requests, not by begging — through strength. We are reaching peace through strength, quiet through strength, security through strength — on seven fronts. “That will also be our policy going forward — we will not allow Syrian army forces to enter the region south of Damascus and will not allow any harm to the Druze at the Druze Mountain. “I would like to share with you something that touched me deeply over the past two days. I received a message from Sheikh Muafak Tarif, the leader of the Druze community in Israel. He told me the following: "During the Holocaust, when you were being slaughtered, you, the Jews, cried for help and no one came. Today we, the Druze, are being slaughtered and we are calling for the help of the State of Israel.” I told him that he's right. We have taken action, and we will continue to take action as necessary.” CONTINUE READING   Share This Email Share This Email Share This Email     Donate Copyright © Zionist Organization of America 2025.
