Dear John,

I’ve been truly humbled by the number and range of people from across the Party that are already supporting my campaign to be the next Leader of the Liberal Democrats.

I want to create a more caring society. It’s deeply personal for me and is shaped by my life experiences. First, as a young carer looking after my terminally-ill mum, and now as a dad to my son, John, who has a neurological condition which means he will need care for the rest of his life.

There are millions of people who have similar experiences to mine.

As Leader of the Liberal Democrats, I want us to fight for them. Not just with warm words but with concrete action to make sure carers, young and old, get transformative support.

That’s why I’ve developed a comprehensive package to care and fight for the 13 million people who care for us. It has the support of Carers UK and other leading charities.

If you want to be part of my plan to deliver a greener, more caring society, join the Liberal Democrats by 9th July to vote in our leadership election.
