Hey John —
I wanted to take a minute to tell you a little bit more about myself, but if you’re short on time today, I’ll cut to the chase: Will you consider making a contribution to help us continue this work? [[link removed]]

I got my start in politics thanks to my mom. She immigrated to this country from a growing theocratic regime threat in Iran and instilled a deep respect for democracy in me and my brother. Our dinner table conversations were a bit different than most families. Instead of talking about sports or about what we did in school that day, we were discussing politics and why none of us should ever take this democracy for granted.
I didn’t start my career running for office, John — after graduation, I spent time as an advisor in the Executive Office of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, serving on the team that helped to deliver the historic Paris Climate Agreement. Fighting for sustainable solutions to address our rapidly growing climate crisis has always been at the core of my work.

During the first Trump Administration, I couldn’t just stay silent as his extremist regime attacked women, working families, our environment, and immigrants, so I decided to stand up and fight back . I was proud to stand with thousands of Americans in protest of the confirmation of right-wing extremist Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, but I knew that to create the change I wanted to see, I needed to do more.
So after knocking on tens of thousands of doors with my team (and my mom) in 2020, I became the youngest woman ever elected to the Phoenix City Council.

And we got straight to work after Election Day. When the extreme right-wing Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade with the Dobbs decision, I led and passed a resolution to ensure that patients, doctors, nurses, and pharmacists weren’t being criminalized for administering or accessing care — a huge risk in Arizona at that time.
As a Councilwoman, my office was always an open door for workers and I was proud to pass some of the most progressive, pro-union policies in Arizona’s history, including a prevailing wage ordinance that improves the quality of life for construction workers, a Worker Heat Safety ordinance that protects thousands of outdoor workers from the extreme heat Arizonans experience due to our escalating climate crisis, as well as helped to raise wages for thousands of city workers across Phoenix.
Everyone deserves a living wage and dignity in the workplace and whether I’m in Phoenix or in Washington, I’ll always fight for working people.

Trump’s disastrous plan for the country is already negatively impacting our progress. Cuts to Medicaid will mean hospital closures and worse outcomes for all of us. Cuts to SNAP mean fewer families will be able to put food on the table. And the rolling back of our climate goals will mean harsher, more extreme weather and more deadly outcomes.
As an expert on climate policy and the impact of our climate crisis, I know that this is the defining issue of our time — that’s why I will lead and support policies that accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, increase our climate resilience, and work directly with FEMA to declare extreme heat as a natural disaster.
Each and every person deserves a pathway to success. We deserve living wages and affordable healthcare. I’ll fight every single day in Washington for the everyday people of Arizona’s 3rd District, and I’m glad you’re in this fight with us.
So, I’ll ask one more time: will you make a contribution today? [[link removed]]
