Support Our Work

This Pride month, we’re elevating Black LGBTQ voices as advocates worldwide demand an end to racism, anti-Blackness and white supremacy. Join us tomorrow, June 25 at 6 p.m. as we gather virtually to reflect on our strength as a community, discuss how activism has advanced LGBTQ rights and hear from community leaders about how advocacy shapes our daily lives and our future.

Take Action Now: Contact Your Reps
Black lives matter, and that includes Black LGBTQ lives at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities. As thousands of people continue marching and demanding action, the New York legislature is responding: It recently implemented several measures for police accountability, including repealing 50-a, a statute that has long kept police misconduct a secret from the public.

But there is still more to do. Contact your reps today, and learn about additional actions you can take, to demand that this progress continue. We need everyone to continue speaking out to end police brutality and the history of systemic racism that supports it.
2020 Census Reminder
The nationwide response rate for the Census is currently 61.6%.
New York is still behind at 56.9%. Federal funding and political representation for the next 10 years are determined by how many of us fill out the Census. Visit gaycenter.org/census and do your part today!
Celebrating Important Progress
The past few weeks have brought important milestones for us all, from the Supreme Court’s recent ruling that LGBTQ employees are protected from discrimination under federal law, to our community turning out to vote—and encouraging their friends, families and networks to vote as well—in the New York State primary elections. Advocates at all levels are getting the work done! May these milestones motivate us as we continue to take action together

Thanks for all you do,
