Email from Zionist Organization of America   ZIONIST ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA UPCOMING WEBINAR Join Us Tuesday, July 22: Weizmann Institute of Science Solidarity Call REGISTER   Academic Resilience at Wartime: Weizmann Institute of Science Solidarity Call Many of us—students and faculty, professionals and lay leaders—were deeply saddened to learn of the extensive damage sustained by the Weizmann Institute of Science (WI) in Israel following a direct hit from an Iranian missile. While, thankfully, no injuries were reported, the destruction to research laboratories, university facilities, and student dormitories has brought critical scientific work to a halt. This solidarity webinar, co-sponsored by ZOA Coalition group Students Supporting Israel (and moderated by ZOA Coalition member SSI Chair Valeria Chazin), ZOA, JNF, AFSI, United Mashadi Jewish Community of America, One Israel Fund, the Gross Family Center for the Study of Antisemitism and the Holocaust, the Greenwald Family Impact Foundation, Amariah, the Rieders Foundation, American Friends of Likud, Betar, Americans for Peace and Tolerance and the WZO aims to provide a platform for our colleagues and friends at the Weitzman Institute to share their experiences, raise awareness about the extent of the damage, and shed light on the challenges currently facing Israeli academics. We are honored to welcome Dr. Yifat Merbl and Dr. Ronen Shteinvil MD, MBA, who will join us from Israel to offer their firsthand accounts. Their insights will help us better understand the impact the attack had on one of Israel’s leading academic institutions and the broader scientific community. By deepening our understanding through a conversation, we can more effectively advocate within our own networks on behalf of Israeli researchers, raising awareness of the civilian academic institution that was targeted. Following a moderated conversation with our speakers, there will be an opportunity for Q&A and discussion on how we, from afar, can express solidarity and support the rebuilding efforts.
