Public safety is one of the most important components of our communities.
Friend,
In 2020, the Pittsburgh City Council established the Stop the Violence Fund — a fund that gives money to internal departments and community organizations to address violence and poverty. The goal is to support initiatives that will help prevent evictions, engage kids in after-school activities, provide food in underserved areas, and more.
I was proud to testify in support of Council President Lavelle and Councilman Mosely’s efforts to strengthen and improve the fund. Public safety is one of the most important components of our communities — and we need to make sure that our resources are being utilized to make the biggest impact.
With these investments, we’re building stronger communities. But this fight isn’t limited to Pittsburgh. In Harrisburg, I’m working to ensure there is support for these evidence-based approaches at the state level.
