Rooting Out Waste, Fraud, and Abuse 

This week, Congress passed a bill I sponsored to rescind wasteful federal government spending. Protecting taxpayer dollars and rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse is a top priority of our House Republican majority. Democrats spent the last four years under President Biden spending like drunken sailors, leading to skyrocketing inflation and lower wages for workers. My legislation gets spending under control by cutting $9 billion in waste, fraud, and abuse from the federal government, including millions of dollars for things like Iraqi Sesame Street, voter ID efforts in Haiti, and the anti-Israeli U.N. Human Rights Council.

I spoke on the House floor before Congress passed my Rescissions bill to start cutting waste, fraud, and abuse so we can start restoring fiscal sanity to government spending.

Promises Made, Promises Kept

For the last four years, America has been held back. Now, this House majority keeps delivering for the American people and working with President Trump to get our country back on track.

Americans gave us this mandate – the House, Senate, and White House – to go deliver on all of the things that are in the One Big Beautiful Bill. Now law, it is going to deliver on so many promises that the American people asked us to do for them. We locked in lower tax rates and accomplished no tax on tips and overtime. This law will produce more American energy in the Gulf of America and fully fund President Trump's effort to finish building the wall.

We are going to see an American renaissance, a golden age in this country that we haven't seen in generations, and we will get this economy moving again.

Combatting the Flow of Deadly Fentanyl

Because of Biden’s border crisis, fentanyl has poured across our southern border, destroying lives, families, and communities. In 2022, drug overdoses claimed the lives of over 100,000 Americans, 67 percent of which involved synthetic opioids like fentanyl, and the DEA seized over 379 million doses of fentanyl – enough to kill every American. We must do a better job of stopping this deadly poison from coming into our country and killing so many young people.
 
I proudly voted for the HALT Fentanyl Act earlier this year to permanently classify fentanyl-related substances in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act and guarantee law enforcement has the resources to keep these drugs off our streets. This week, President Trump signed this legislation into law to stop fentanyl from claiming more American lives and halt this deadly crisis.

Strengthening our Military

Our military servicemembers and their families have made incredible sacrifices for our nation, and we have an obligation to make sure they have the resources they need both on and off the battlefield. This week, I proudly voted for the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2026, to make sure that our men and women in uniform will receive a 3.8 percent pay increase for all military personnel in addition to continuing the historic pay raises enacted in Fiscal Year 2025 for junior enlisted servicemembers.

This bill ensures our military will remain the strongest fighting force in the world, and I am pleased to share that it passed the House.
