Trump just re-added medical debt to your credit report.

Back in January, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau finalized a rule that took people’s medical debt off of their credit report.

Then, Trump took a chainsaw to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and installed the literal author of Project 2025 as the guy in charge of it.

And earlier this week, Trump and his cronies at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau decided to kill that rule. Medical debt is back on credit reports.

Just about half of all medical bills have at least one error in them. People get the wrong bills all the time, and when that happens they’re the ones who have to deal with the consequences — not the health care providers, not the CEOs, not the billionaire board members.

This just happened to me. I had to fight a $1700 medical bill that should’ve been covered by my health care for half a year. Then, when they agreed it should be covered, they STILL sent me to collections over it. I’m lucky to be able to cover this now, but back when I was a kid it’s the kind of thing that would have bankrupted our family.

Medical debt doesn’t tell you if someone is financially irresponsible. It tells you they got sick.

Trump’s decision to re-add it to credit reports will punish millions of Americans for having cancer, caring for a sick kid, or going to the ER. It’s not right, and it’s going to ruin people's lives.

It’s going to take a big fight to get Trump and MAGA out of power, but we’ll do it — mark my words.

When we do, we’ve got a big job ahead of us. Trump’s done huge damage already but if he can tear it down, we can build it back up. A huge part of that is going to be reforming this broken system so we can help families get the health care they need at prices they can afford.

We’ve got to show up, do the work, and help people.

If we can’t, we don’t deserve power.

Hope you’re with me on that.

Ruben
