GOP Rep. Don Bacon in NE-02
Hi friend,
This is the kind of moment that doesn’t come around often: In Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, Republican Rep. Don Bacon recently announced he’s retiring.
That means we’re looking at an open seat with no incumbent in one of the most competitive, flippable districts in the country—making this district much easier to win and and a golden opportunity to help flip the House in 2026.
This is a district where the political tide has already started to turn. Trump lost NE-02 in both 2020 and 2024. And just this year, voters in Omaha—Nebraska’s largest city—elected a Democratic mayor for the first time since 2013.
That doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of changing demographics, strong local organizing, and voters rejecting the MAGA agenda again and again.
Now, we have the chance to build on that momentum. We only need to flip three seats to win back the House majority, and this district could be the one that tips the balance.
But that outcome isn’t guaranteed. Republicans know how vulnerable this seat is, and they’ll spend big to keep it red. If we want a shot at flipping it, we need to act early and act together.
