The Department of Education, families, and children are under attack.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court decided to allow Trump to conduct mass layoffs at the Department of Ed – specifically targeting staff who oversee bilingual education programs, disability grants and compliance, and federal financial aid.

Here’s another thing you may not have heard about: Linda McMahon, the Secretary of Education (who has no background in education), sent a letter to states on June 30th, notifying us that she was freezing federal education funding that was supposed to be released the next day.

These funds were to be used for teacher professional development and retention, after-school and summer learning, bilingual education, and adult literacy – among other things.

The Trump Administration's failure to release this funding on time is disrupting school and district planning, jeopardizing the education of millions of students, and threatening the ability for families to send their children to good public schools.

I know this is in the weeds, but the bottom line here is that if you have or know a student in public schools in any state: This is an attack on them.
