Seven months into her fourth pregnancy, Zainab , a young mother from Al Khokha district in Yemen, was severely malnourished, anemic, and faced serious complications. She feared the worst: “I was afraid I wouldn’t survive my pregnancy, but the timely care I received at the health center saved me and my baby.”
Every day in Yemen, pregnant women, mothers, and their babies must fight for survival. Nearly a decade of conflict has almost completely destroyed the healthcare system. Only one in five functioning health facilities can provide maternal and newborn health services. Due to increasing food shortages, over 1.3 million pregnant and breastfeeding women are expected to need aid for severe malnutrition.
Thanks to gifts from supporters like you, Zainab was able to reach a UNFPA-supported health center where she received crucial care — including iron supplements and a safe caesarean to deliver her baby. Access to safe and timely medical care likely saved her and her baby’s life.
Zainab’s story could have ended in tragedy, but with compassionate donor support, her story became one of survival and resilience. Today, Zainab is healthy, caring for her newborn, and inspiring her community with her strength.
You can change more lives like Zainab's, by providing women and girls in crisis areas with essential care. If you can, please make a gift to help them overcome challenges and embrace a future of hope and dignity. [[link removed]?]

Your generous support alongside government funding provides emergency obstetric and maternal health care in 52 health facilities across Yemen. But with the U.S. government's termination of all funding agreements for UNFPA, funding for these facilities is hanging by a thread. Since 2018, supporters have enabled us to respond to the maternal health of millions of women and girls and save thousands of women’s lives during childbirth. Will you keep the lights on today?
Zainab and her family’s lives were changed because of supporters like you who have opened up their hearts and provided the gift of hope for the future. You, too, can deliver critical care and relief to mothers and their babies who might otherwise be left to suffer and perish alone.
With your help, UNFPA can continue to support health centers, supply lifesaving medicines, train midwives, and provide safe deliveries for mothers in crisis.
Please, make a gift today to deliver lifesaving care to pregnant women, mothers and their babies, and vulnerable girls in Yemen and crises around the world. Your compassion can give them the means to rebuild their lives with dignity. [[link removed]?]
