John,
ICE's massive, unjustified show of force in Los Angeles, targeting working families and immigrant communities, is a stark reminder of what's at stake right here in Kansas City.
Mayor Karen Bass stood strong, standing up for fairness and protecting vulnerable communities. Kansas City stands firmly with Mayor Bass—we will not be intimidated, and we will not back down.
As Mayor, I've worked tirelessly to ensure Kansas City is welcoming and supportive of immigrant families. We've implemented policies like the Fountain Card Municipal ID program and the Office of Language Access (OLA), to help immigrant families safely access essential city services and protections. According to this factsheet from the ACLU, Municipal IDs significantly improve community safety by fostering police-community trust, encouraging vulnerable residents to report crimes and cooperate with law enforcement, and reducing unnecessary arrests due to lack of identification. We've also made sure our city stands against harmful federal immigration enforcement that seeks to divide and intimidate our communities.
Now more than ever, Kansas City needs bold, principled leadership that defends all working families, immigrants, and neighbors. I'm committed to continuing this fight, and together, we can ensure Kansas City remains a just and welcoming home for everyone.
Stand up with us today to ensure Kansas City remains a city for ALL.
