This week, Republicans in Congress successfully passed a $9 billion DOGE cuts package that cancels some of the most wasteful taxpayer-funded pet projects I’ve ever seen. Here are just some of the programs we clawed back, saving the taxpayers billions:
Canceled Democrat Priorities: - $1.1 billion for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting - $500,000 for electric buses in Rwanda - $6 million for “Net Zero Cities” in Mexico - $8,000 for promoting vegan food in Zambia - $3.3 million for civic engagement in Zimbabwe - $3 million for Iraqi Sesame Street - $1 million for Voter ID in Haiti - $18 million to improve gender diversity in the Mexican street lighting industry - $21 million on wind farms in Ukraine - $882,000 to fund social media mentorship in Serbia and Belarus
Hopefully, this is only the start. We’re already in touch with the White House on more. Remember: DOGE cuts are phase two of cutting spending in Washington, after we secured the largest spending cut in history in President Trump’s 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill.’ Next: we'll move on to the appropriations process. More on that later.
President Trump, the Senate GOP, and the House GOP accomplished something that has not been done since 1999—passing a rescissions package to cut spending. As I've shared there are three big phases to getting our fiscal house in order. Next is the appropriations process. A big question remains: will there be another 'Schumer Shutdown'?
