As I returned to Washington this week, my prayers continue to be with the people of Texas as we rebuild from the catastrophic flooding that swept through Central and West Texas on July 4th. To honor the precious lives lost, I spoke on the House floor and stood alongside my colleagues in the 119th Congress for a moment of silence.

Texans come together in adversity; it is what we do. In the face of this tragedy, what has brought me the greatest peace is witnessing how our state and communities have come together to support one another. I am extremely grateful for the support Texas has received from across the nation as well.

More Texas-11 Counties Added to Major Disaster Declaration from FEMA

I am grateful that more counties across Texas-11 were added to the President's Major Disaster Declaration. Thanks to Governor Abbott's advocacy, the following counties are all eligible to receive varying levels of support from FEMA: Coke, Concho, Kimble, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, and Tom Green counties.



My team and I have worked closely with local leaders and officials to ensure accurate damage assessments, and we will continue working to secure the resources these counties and others need. Read the updated FEMA Fact sheet here or by clicking on the image below.

Honoring the Lives Lost in the July 4th Texas Floods

I spoke on the U.S. House Floor during a special order on the devastating floods that swept through Central and West Texas. During my remarks, I honored the precious lives lost in Texas's 11th Congressional District and across the state. So many first responders and Texans stepped up to save lives, and we will be forever grateful for their heroism during the dangerous flooding.

My family will forever be grateful to God for sparing the lives of our daughters, and we hold the loved ones who lost their daughters close in our hearts and prayers each day. I've been connected to Camp Mystic my whole life, where I've seen generations of women build friendships and faith, and develop into leaders. Dick Eastland was a loving husband and a friend to many across Texas and our country. He undoubtedly gave his life trying to save his campers. Dick's legacy will forever live on through the generations of women he mentored. Camp Mystic is a family, and we are all grieving for the loss of life that occurred on July 4th.

Texans are strong, and we will move forward stronger than ever.

FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Opens in San Angelo and San Saba

FEMA has opened a Disaster Recovery Center in San Angelo and San Saba to offer face-to-face help to those who had damage or losses from the severe flooding in Texas-11.

Along with FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is supporting the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) in helping residents apply for federal disaster assistance.

Our office is working hand-in-hand with officials at the Disaster Recovery Centers to assist residents with federal agencies. If you need to replace important documents such as Social Security Cards, Birth Certificates, Passports, etc., please contact my office for assistance.

Texas-11 Communities Continue to Persevere After Flooding

I remain immensely grateful to our local organizations and our neighbors for the overwhelming outpouring of support for those who have lost so much in the recent flooding.

Our team continues to be on the ground across Texas-11, logging ISTAT damage surveys, aiding local officials, and volunteering at aid distribution centers. If your property has been damaged by flooding, I encourage you to complete an ISTAT survey, available here.
