AT THE WHITE HOUSE WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP AS HE SIGNED THE HALT FENTANYL ACT INTO LAW It was an honor to be at the White House when President Trump signed the HALT Fentanyl Act into law. Too many families have lost a loved one to an overdose. Now that the HALT Fentanyl Act is the law of the land, we will punish drug traffickers and save lives. Listen to more of my comments on the enactment of the HALT Fentanyl Act into law below: THE NATIONAL FARM SECURITY ACTION PLAN WILL PROTECT OUR FARMLAND AND SECURE OUR AGRICULTURAL SUPPLY CHAINS The Trump administration’s National Farm Security Action Plan will ban China from buying our farmland and secure our agricultural supply chains. This initiative is a win for Iowa farmers and agriculture. This is a comprehensive, seven-point initiative to defend American farmland from foreign adversaries, secure our agricultural supply chains, and ensure the long-term success of family farms and agriculture in Iowa and nationwide. Read More FUNDING THE FARM AND RANCH STRESS ASSISTANCE NETWORK On Tuesday, I introduced the Farmers First Act. This legislation would fully fund the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network, providing farmers with real support in times of crisis. Our farm producers deserve access to behavioral health services as quickly as they need them. DISCUSSING THE IMPORTANCE OF THE VETERINARY DIAGNOSTIC LAB AND THE NATIONAL ANIMAL HEALTH LABORATORY NETWORK On Wednesday, I met with Dr. Rodger Main who is the Director of the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab at Iowa State University. He testified before the House Agriculture Committee about the importance of the VDL and the National Animal Health Laboratory Network to defending Iowa agriculture from foreign animal diseases. DISCUSSING WINS FOR CORN FARMERS IN THE "ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL" It was great to see my friend, Kelly Nieuwenhuis, who farms in Primghar and is very active with Iowa Corn and the National Corn Growers Association We had a productive conversation about the many wins for corn farmers in the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” and our mission to make year-round E-15 permanent! PRESIDENT TRUMP SECURES TRADE AGREEMENT WITH INDONESIA President Trump has done it again. This trade agreement with Indonesia delivers for American farmers and grows our rural economy. Under the Trump administration, our farmers, workers, and businesses will no longer be taken advantage of or treated unfairly! MEETING WITH IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES On Tuesday, our District Director — Emily — met with representatives and employees from Imagine the Possibilities to discuss their work to support Iowans with disabilities and help them lead fulfilling lives. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. TEAM FEENSTRA AT THE 4H BBQ IN SIBLEY On Wednesday, our Ag & Manufacturing Liaison — Wes — attended the 4H BBQ at the Osceola County Fair in Sibley. County fairs are all about 4H, FFA, ISU Extension, and showing livestock. These incredible Iowa traditions make our state a great place to live! CHATTING WITH IOWA FFA STATE OFFICERS I enjoyed chatting with Iowa FFA state officers and hearing about their experience in FFA and their plans for the future. These young Iowans play critical roles in our communities and make important contributions to our great state. I appreciate their passion for Iowa! MEETING WITH IOWA CORN AND DISCUSSING AG WINS IN PRESIDENT TRUMP'S "ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL" It was great to sit down with Iowa Corn and talk about the wins we secured for corn farmers in President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill.” We also talked about getting year-round E-15 passed and signed into law as well as our work to open new export markets for Iowa corn. ONE LAST THING: LIFESERVE BLOOD CENTER TO HOLD ANNUAL BLOOD DONOR DAY According to the Red Cross, in the U.S., someone needs blood every 2 seconds, with approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells, 5,000 units of platelets, and 6,500 units of plasma required daily. I commend the LifeServe Blood Center on their mission to provide such a necessary service to our communities and encourage those interested in donating to attend. LifeServe Blood Center to hold annual Blood Donor Day The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Read More MY WEEKLY COLUMN: KEEPING DEADLY DRUGS OUT OF OUR COMMUNITIES On Wednesday July 16th, I had the privilege of being at the White House when President Trump signed the HALT Fentanyl Act into law. Joined by families who have tragically lost loved ones and children to an overdose, the ceremony was a sobering reminder that too many Americans – especially young people – still lose their lives to the illicit drug trade orchestrated by criminals who have no regard for human life. We need real solutions to the opioid epidemic and rapid action to protect our children and neighbors. Fortunately, with the stroke of his pen, President Trump ensured that we can strengthen our mission to reduce overdoses and save lives by marshaling every available resource to keep our country safe and secure.
