Dear John,

Thank you for signing up to receive my email newsletter. These newsletters cover a variety of topics, including events happening in Indiana, legislation before the United States Senate, and my perspective on current issues. My hope is to keep you updated and informed on how issues in Washington may impact our state. I welcome your feedback.

HALT Fentanyl Act Signed Into Law

Image

I was proud to be at the White House as President Trump signed the HALT Fentanyl Act into law. This bill gives law enforcement the tools they’ve been asking for to crack down on fentanyl traffickers. It makes the emergency scheduling of fentanyl-related substances permanent, closing loopholes and helping stop these deadly drugs before they hit our streets.

President Trump made fighting the opioid crisis a top priority during his first term. Now that fight continues with this bill. Fentanyl has taken too many lives in Indiana and across the country. Parents should never have to face the pain of losing their children to this deadly drug. I’m grateful for the moms and dads I’ve met who have turned their grief into action. Their tireless efforts helped get this bill signed into law. There’s more work to do, but this is a big step and I’m grateful for the President’s leadership in this fight. Click here to learn more.

My Key Amendments To The FY26 Defense Bill

Image

I’m proud to have secured amendments that confront 21st century challenges facing our military. These changes will help protect sensitive research from the Chinese Communist Party, speed up how we get the tools our troops need, and make sure military kids can focus in the classroom without unnecessary distractions. We Should Be Judged By The Content Of Our Character

Image

I have placed a hold on the promotion of Col. George H. Sebren, who has been recommended for promotion to Brigadier General in the Air Force due to his advocacy for military promotions based on race and gender, not merit. Click here to learn more.

Question Of The Week

I recently cosponsored legislation to designate June 23-29 as National Women's Sports Week to celebrate the anniversary of Title IX and the tremendous growth of women's athletics. As we honor the legacy of equal opportunity in sports, I believe we must also protect the integrity of women's competition.

Do you agree that biological men should not be allowed to compete in women's sports?

No Tax On Tips

Image

I’m sure you have heard about No Tax on Tips and might be wondering how does it work.

Let’s break it down.

On July 4th, President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill into law.

One of the best parts of the bill? No Tax on Tips.

Here’s what that means:

Starting this year until 2028, the first $25,000 you earn in tips each year will be EXEMPT from federal income tax.

For example: before this bill, if you earned $25,000 in tips at a 12% tax rate, $3,000 of that was going to federal income tax.

Now, that is $3,000 you get to KEEP!

This helps millions of Americans who work for tips take home more of their hard-earned money.

It means being able to save for a house, pay off your car sooner, or just have a little more breathing room at the end of the month.

Hard work should be rewarded and thanks to President Trump and the One Big Beautiful Bill, it will be.

I’m proud to have voted for this bill in the Senate.

President Trump campaigned on helping hard-working Americans and he delivered.

Great to visit with President Trump’s choice to oversee and build the Golden Dome, US Space Force General Michael Guetlein, today. I was glad to discuss the important role Indiana is going to play.
